Legislation concerning SPF-Selskabet's products
Pig transport is subject to EU and Danish legislation.
Where export from Denmark is concerned, pig transport conditions are mainly regulated by EU legislation.
The transport regulation (Council Regulation (EC) No. 1/2005) applies to the transport of livestock in all EU member states. The regulation specifies requirements on:
• the carrier
• the driver
• the vehicle (min. space per pig, ventilation, deck height, navigation system, etc.)
• travel and rest times for the pigs
The TRACES regulation (Commission Regulation (EC) No. 599/2004) specifies the way in which trade in animals between EU member states shall be recorded and reported. Among other things, the supplier, carrier and recipient must be stated in the "Trading Certificate".
The veterinary directive (Council Directive 64/432/EEC) stipulates the veterinary requirements on inter-community trade. The need for a "Health Certificate" among other things.
